The Purple Thread is proud to be hosting this event in collaboration with local martial arts studio, The DOJO, so that we can learn and connect — together.
This group experience includes an empowering self-defense session, guided reiki healing meditation, coffee/tea & nourishing treats, and a donation to WomenRising in honor of domestic violence awareness month. This two-hour inclusive event is $75 per person.

In the U.S., almost three women are killed by an intimate partner every day.
One in three teens in the US will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they're in a relationship with before they become adults. Nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors. (Love Is Respect)
Having become the one in three at 19 years old, this cause will forever be close to my heart, connecting me to myself in a way I had not yet known — the very reason for The Purple Thread's founding in 2010.

WomenRising meets these needs by providing supportive counseling, crisis intervention, workforce development and job placement, permanent supportive housing, shelter for survivors of domestic violence, outreach, advocacy, referrals, and much more.
