This group experience includes an empowering self-defense session, guided reiki healing meditation, coffee/tea & nourishing treats, and a donation to WomenRising in honor of domestic violence awareness month. This two-hour inclusive event is $75 per person.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In the U.S., almost three women are killed by an intimate partner every day.

One in three teens in the US will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they're in a relationship with before they become adults. Nearly half (43%) of U.S. college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors. (Love Is Respect)

Having become the one in three at 19 years old, this cause will forever be close to my heart, connecting me to myself in a way I had not yet known — the very reason for The Purple Thread's founding in 2010.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Come #SetTheExpectation with us!

Each Fall, The Purple Thread Club @ Marist College partners with Set The Expectation, Marist Athletics, Title IX, and It’s On Us to sponsor this special football game in support of Grace Smith House. We’re excited to gather during alumni weekend for this noteworthy event!

Set The Expectation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending sexual and interpersonal violence through prevention work with men, advocacy, and engagement with agencies serving survivors and their families. Grace Smith House is a local shelter and service enabling individuals and families to live free from domestic violence. The Purple Thread Club @ Marist College is in its 12th year on campus.
